Installation
Requirements
- macOS 14.0 or later
- Admin access on first launch (to approve the privileged helper daemon)
Install
- Download the
.pkginstaller. - Run it and follow the prompts.
- Launch TonyProxy from Applications.
Approve the helper daemon
TonyProxy routes system traffic through a small privileged helper (TonyProxyHelper), registered via SMAppService. macOS treats this like any background-item request:
- On first launch, macOS shows a “TonyProxy” would like to add a login item / background task prompt.
- Approve it. If you miss the prompt, go to System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions and enable TonyProxy’s helper manually.
- Without this approval, TonyProxy can still run and inspect traffic you route to it manually, but it can’t set itself as the system-wide proxy automatically.
